Homework - Southold Cargo Lots
#1
Bahiyya and Kearse purchased cargo lots over two days for shipping on the sea vessel Acacia, consisting of the following:

Day 1
Lot #1 = 10tuns @ 100d/tun (cost 10pp) - Purchased
Lot #2 = 15tuns @ 150d/tun (cost 22pp, 5gp) - Purchased
Lot #3 = 5tuns @ 250d/tun (cost 12pp, 5gp) - Purchased
Lot #4 = 10tuns @ 100d/tun (cost 10pp) - Purchased

(40 tuns) - Remaining Party cargo space: 551.625tuns

Day 2
Lot #1 = 18tuns @ 120d/tun (cost 21pp, 6gp)
Lot #2 = 7tuns @ 230d/tun (cost 16pp, 1gp) - Purchased
Lot #3 = 2tuns @ 240d/tun (cost 4pp, 8gp) - Purchased
Lot #4 = 20tuns @ 120d/tun (cost 24pp)
Lot #5 = 3tuns @ 350d/tun (cost 10pp, 5gp) - Purchased
Lot #6 = 13tuns @ 150d/tun (cost 19pp, 5gp) - Purchased
Lot #7 = 5tuns @ 200d/tun (cost 10pp) - Purchased

(30 tuns): Available Party Burthen: 521.625tuns

As an interactive exercise and save time during our next session, I will post available cargo lots over the next 5 days by 9pm.

The party will have until 9pm the following day to select lots to purchase for shipping to the port of Durond. It is possible to delay a purchase in order to see if better cargo becomes available, but each lot not purchased has a cumulative chance of being bought by another vessel each day.

As of the third day the following lots are available to purchase:

(Day 2)
Lot #1 = 18tuns @ 120d/tun (cost 21pp, 6gp)
Lot #4 = 20tuns @ 120d/tun (Sold to another vessel)

Day 3
Lot #1 = 1tun @ 370d (cost 3pp, 7gp)
Lot #2 = 10tuns @ 190d/tun (cost 19pp)
Lot #3 = 8tuns @ 210d/tun (cost 16pp, 8gp)
Lot #4 = 10tuns @ 130d/tun (cost 13pp)
Lot #5 = 5tuns @ 230d/tun (cost 11pp, 5gp)

The deadline for this list is 12/3/2018 @9pm. Yes, there will be experience points awarded for participation Wink

So we have five days to buy up to 100 tunnes a day (104.145tunnes a day to be exact).  We are also the only ship that is planning on going north because of the blockade and battles, which gives us a better than average chance of offloading whatever we bring.  Day 3's offerings collectively amounts to just 34 tunnes (62pp., and20gp.).  With day 2's lot #1 added in we can bring that load up to 52 tunnes (costing us 83pp., 26gp.)  We could buy all six lots and have 469.625 tunnes of space left for us to fill; that makes it so we have to buy 117.406 tunnes a day for the remaining four days.

Oh yea, none of these lots we are buying will spoil or go bad, and trader Lylord assures us these goods have sold before in the ports we shall be visiting.  Also, I know Irik didn't mention it, the ship is being refitted and crew are being hired as we go (Those are the factors we took care of on the 12/2/2018 game that some of you missed.  We paid our part for repairs and helped pick out and vet the crew.  For the crew we agreed to a 2sp sign on agreement and a 1 sp. end of voyage bonus each, and no they will not fight to the death for our amusement; and we increased the amount of crew on board till we now have 72 sailors to kick around and lord over.)  That should help keep you guys up to date on our venture.

We do not have to fill all the space available to us, we will have chances to sell the lots we have in other ports, as well as pick up lots to replace or fill empty spaces.  Many knowledgeable people think we will double the money we invest in these lots, so that is something to consider... we could even do better....

Lot #1 = 1tun @ 370d (cost 3pp, 7gp)
Lot #2 = 10tuns @ 190d/tun (cost 19pp)
Lot #3 = 8tuns @ 210d/tun (cost 16pp, 8gp)
Lot #4 = 10tuns @ 130d/tun (cost 13pp)
Lot #5 = 5tuns @ 230d/tun (cost 11pp, 5gp)

Another point of interest from December 2nd's game: Lyrlord -- the well-travelled merchant who deals in odds-n-ends, curiosities, lore, etc. -- when solicited for advice, recommended avoiding purchasing lots that were less than 150d/tun.

Based on that, we might consider buyhing Lots 1, 2, 3, and 5 from Day 3. That's my/Bahiyya's vote.

Kearse should not have been playing with his prayer beads during that lesson, he missed some key advice. We should of course listen to Lyrlord Skinyeard, we did seek his experience after all, (a.k.a. thank you for taking better notes than me)! Big Grin

With my limited knowledge of what happened last session combined with Lyrlord's advice, I think Tracy's recommendations are pretty solid, lots 1, 2, 3 and 5 seem pretty reasonalbe. Symon would agree to those selections as well as have no complaints with the crew compliment or pay.

I'm a little fuzzy on the d/tun. I'm drawing a blank on the "d" part.

The "d" stands for dram of silver, which equals a silver piece.

Under MSRP (maritime suggested retail price) I vote for day 4's lots to be #1, #3, #4, #5, #6. That will give us 48 additional tuns and cost us 71PP, 27GP this day. We will still have 449.625 tunnes of space to fill, don't worry about provender and water that has also already been taken care of.

I concur with Kearse, above.

Although I confess to some curiosity about Lot 7. Why's the d/tun so low? Is this the giant box of bobble-head toys??

Yes what is up with Lot #7? Is it a load of warped arrows for the cross eyed archers of Dundia? Rubber bladed weapons for a troupe of historical recreationists? Air balloons for the merpeople?
