Knocking on the Door
#1
Okay folks, time to strategize for our fight with the Guardian Golem.

Enkili has Antitoxin which will grant him Advantage on his Constitution saves versus the Golem's poison breath; Con is one his stronger saves.
*His Potion of Heroism will grant him 1-10 additional hit points and a D4 for his attacks, saves, and skill roles (as Bless spell but without concentration).
*Also a potion of Hill Giant Strength may bring his physical strength closer to the Golem's, so pushing and trip attempts may have a chance of success. Though he will be more inclined to use Distracting Strike in order to grant the next attacker advantage if necessary.
*Two Coins are at his disposal to turn hits into critical hits.
Query: Enkili would like to use the Cloak of Protection in order to raise his AC since he will be in the Golem's grill.
Recomendation: If Grynn is going to melee with his magic mace, they should coordinate their attacks to grant each other flanking bonuses, as Ghosttusk himself mentioned in game.

Ideas that were discussed were buying Adamantine or magic arrows for our archers at 500 gp an arrow. Tangling the Golem up somehow (I think I heard soething about Ice binding the Golem's legs). Increasing our armor classes so that we are hit less, and Neutralize Poison spells and Antitoxin potions to increase our saves and resistance to the poison breath.

Thank you! These all sound good.

One option then is to anoint Grynn's cleric as a melee/combat-focused one; and have Leiya focus mainly or solely on Support, Healing, and Defensive actions. Or she could do her usual and maintain a blend of defense/offense.

Some possible options/abilities (* = Concentration)
  • Aid (gives temp increases to max HP and current/total HP)
  • * Aura of Life (30-ft radius of healing, centered on caster)
  • * Aura of Purity (30-ft radius of poison resistance/etc., centered on caster)
  • * Dawn (up to 4d10 radiant damage inside cylinder o' radiance)
  • * Enhance Ability (increases/benefits to a stat, such as Bear's Endurance)
  • Guardian of Faith - up to 60 pts radiant damage, if our enemy can be kept in one place
  • Guiding Bolt - radiant damage and gives an ally advantage
  • * Holy Weapon - makes a weapon magical; weapon doles out 2d8 radiant damage on top of weapon's own damage)
  • * Otiluke's Resilient Sphere (for either the enemy or one of us)
  • * Slow (enemy has to make Wisdom save)
  • * Spirit Guardians
  • Spiritual Weapon
  • * Summon Celestial? (listed in 5eTools but not PHB)
  • Warding Bond (+1 AC & saves to ally; resistance to all damage by ally; if ally takes damage I take same damage)
  • * Wall of Force

In addition, Leiya's domain allows
  • Shield of the Faithful (help shield ally from attack)
  • Radiant Defense (if ally is hit, he deals radiant damage to enemy)
  • Divine Strike (I add 1d8 radiant damage to any hits I make with my melee weapon)

Now as far as Riardon, he is more limited. His main ranged spells are fire- and psychic-based, which won't help us here. He can shoot arrows or crossbows; and he has Shocking Grasp which he can cast a few times. (I don't have his character sheet so can't recall what all else he can do.)

Do we have anything that is good against Constructs, specifically?

Edit: I'm fine with Enkili making use of the Cloak of Protection.

Summon Celestial is from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Leiya has quit the complement of spells, by the way. Riardon needs those special arrows.

What special arrows? Do we have a stash of magic arrows or anything somewhere? I believe Riardon has either a shortbow or a crossbow -- can't recall which -- so that might be a viable option for him. He won't be enthused about getting into close-quarters combat with this creature. His spells are mainly fire-, psychic-, and illusion-based, none of which will be helpful with this construct. Sad

Riardon can also heal by means of Healer's Kit -- he has the Medicine feat. Drawback (same as for Leiya) is that each person can only receive ONE healing kit application, after which they require a Long Rest in order to gain benefit of the Kit again.

Riardon and Leiya both do have Healer Kits though. Leiya, Grynn, and Blaylock also have healing spell options.

I believe Enkili has a bit of healing also, such as Second Wind, correct?

I do have a spell that might (in theory) bind or slow the Golem in ice. Ideally? If we could find a means to levitate me or get me to fly well out of reach, I can blast all dang day.

The arrow conversation was about gathering magic arrows and/or adamantine arrows for our two snipers, Blaylocke and Riardon.
